HOUSE BOAT
Originally named Duzaway, this 70-foot wreck known as Old Houseboat, was reefed in 90 feet of water in 1987 to create and artificial reef. Soft coral and baitfish inhabit this wreck, which is impressive for its colorful nature. There are many schools of large barracuda and great photo opportunities.
Close to this wreck lie about 31 football fields (36 acres) of tires sunken in 1972 in intention of creating an artificial reef and safe habitat for marine life. While small corals attach to these tires the currents are constantly moving them around and destroying marine life. The Department of Environmental Protection is working on removal of the tires with little success.
